Identity & Terminology

• Episcopal vs. Episcopalian: "Episcopal" is the adjective (from Latin episcopus, bishop/overseer). "Episcopalian" is the noun denoting a member.
• Tradition: Often described as a "bridge tradition" combining Protestant and Catholic elements. Roots trace to the Church of England, Augustine of Canterbury's 597 mission, and the 16th-century English Reformation.

Beliefs & Worship

• Beliefs: Expressed in the Baptismal Covenant, which begins with the Apostles' Creed and outlines callings to live out faith.
• Worship: Liturgical ("the work of the people"), using the Book of Common Prayer (BCP). Worship involves communal prayer, singing, and sensory participation, sharing similarities with Roman Catholic and Lutheran services. All visitors are welcome.
